Labor day weekend was certainly spent laboring! As many of you know, originally I was ecstatic to find the original hardwood floors under the carpeting, but after estimates and researching I decided it made more sense to rip those out and put in new hardwood flooring than having the others sanded down and refinished. I selected an oak floor with a warm stain, and I must say I am in LOVE with them. Having parents as handy as mine, I have had the opportunity to experience just about every floor installation type, from floating to glue down, and I must say this style of nail down is my absolute favorite; after tapping the board into place, the air gun lines up PERFECTLY with the groove and shoots into the floor exactly the same each time, genius I tell you!
On a side note the old planks I am planning on saving and repurposing the quality strips to lay down gorgeous floors in the future master bedroom addition....but more on that later - I don't want to get ahead of myself, one project at a time!
